Amazing Tour with Egypt Key Tours

I had an amazing private tour of the pyramids of Giza and old Cairo lead by Jimmy from Egypt Key Tours. My Group had a very limited time (18hr Cairo layover) and the trip jimmy put together was amazing. Unfortunately our arrival was after closing of the pyramids but jimmy arranged a special camel ride to the backside of the pyramids which was crazy amazing.

After that we had a pre-arranged dinner and afterwards a private tour of the Old Cairo after dark. The market and architecture of Old Cairo is unforgettably and Jimmy made the whole experience even more unforgettable by his meticulous planning and knowledge.

He was very easy to listen to (a walking history book) and made us feel absolutely safe. When I return to Egypt there will be two certainties-that I have more than 18 hrs, and that I book with Egypt Key Tours!

Blue Mosque

Built in 1347 and well restored in 2015, this building is highly touted by would-be guides, but it’s nothing like its Istanbul namesake. It’s classic Mamluk architecture throughout, except for one wall of flowery blue Ottoman tiles, looking a bit out of place, as they were installed 300 years later. The minaret affords an excellent view of the Citadel, as well as the remains of Saladin’s city walls, to the east behind the mosque.

The Aqsunqur Mosque or as it also was called the Blue Mosque was situated close to Bab Zuweila it is a mixture of flourishing courtyard for prayer and a mausoleum and it derived its name from Amir Aqsunqur who constructed it in 1347, then it became as one of the most amazing mosques during the Mamluk eras, and it shed light on the fabulous Mamluk’s designing, as well as it derived the name of Blue Mosque from a blue-gray marble that is exists on the facade of the mosque and from the interior walls which were covered with turquoise and blue tiles decorated with flowers and plants designs.
